Hello,
Ok... Does anyone not care to see any more about Anna Nicole Smith?
Please... It is a real shame she passed, but gimme a break! The real victim is that little child, who will never know it's mother. Imagine learning about your Mom and seeing her in Playboy and the tabloids.
Iraq...
Dubya wants to send more troops to bolster the forces currently in theatre. Will this help?
I am not a military strategist, but it would seem that more would help in such a situation. The problem as I see it, is that out military is fighting a war it was not trained to fight. Pile on top of that the rules of international engagement, international political protocol, and the media, our military is severely limited.
This is not our fight. Most look at the war as an extension of the Bush political agenda. A case of dubya furthering his father's war of 1991. Is it about the oil? Perhaps, but the U.S. government's champion of energy consumption leaves many of those questions unanswered. Too much money is being made in Washington for any real progress toward alternative fuel, or away from fossil fuel to be made. It is just that simple.
Iran...
Many of the anti-war constituents are quick to "poo-poo" this idea without consideration. How much of an international threat is Iraq? The main point behind the 2003 intervention in Iraq was t oroot out international terrorists. Saddam is gone, and we are left metering a bloody civil war. Iran is the un-silent player in many of the region's conflicts. From state-sponsored terrorism to a regime that has labelled the United States an "Evil Empire", and vowed to "wipe Israel off of the map". Hello? Is there still a question Iran is a threat? Not to mention, they are building nuclear weapons...
What I would do, if I were making the decisions.
Call for the immediate withdrawl of all U.S. and coalition forces from the various villages and towns throughout Iraq.
Place two to three armored divisions around the oil assets in country. We cannot let the terrorists use it for profit either. Proceeds from the sale of Iraqi oil go to paying for the war and into trust until someone can figure out the rest.
Use American military technology to fight the war from the air. Electronic surveillance, and a scaling up of the pace used to engage our opponents will take the fight to a level they cannot reach.
Removing the international media from any and all combat zones. I believe the picture painted by war correspondents hurtful to troop morale.
The loosening of sanctions and rules of engagement that face the soldiers and commanders currently sacrificing their lives. One goal, the complete mastery of any and all scenarios.
Step up pressure on Iran. Let the government in Tehran know that it has no leg to stand on when it comes to a match with the U.S. Destroy any and all nuclear processing facilities, conventionally or unconventionally.
Just my ideas...
